Breaking News: Glossier Just Launched A New Brand

By now, it’s no surprise that I’m a big Glossier fan. I mention them in just about every other blog post, and if I could become one of their brand ambassadors, I would in a second (get on it, Glossier). Glossier Play, the new extension of their brand, was announced recently and officially launched yesterday.

Glossier Play currently sells six items, and in true Glossier fashion, they offer two bundle sets for a lower price. Right off the bat, you can tell that these products are for the adventurous and wild at heart: it offers shiny metallic highlighter concentrates and glitter-filled eyeshadows. It’s definitely different from the natural and minimalistic products they usually sell, but it still resembles Glossier. The packaging is sleek and sophisticated with clean lettering and cohesive designs. Would we expect anything less?

The collection also offers something new that we haven’t seen from the brand in the past: makeup brushes and tools. With a sharpener and angled silicone brush, Glossier makes sure that their customers will know exactly what to use to nail all of their night out looks.

So, what do you think? Are there any items from the collection that you want?

You can shop Glossier Play here.

Talk to you soon!

Marching On: New Month, New Update

Hello, and happy first day of March!

I think I’m not the only one who feels like these past two months have flown by. One minute it was the new year, and now it’s March… where does the time go?

I really haven’t taken the time to sit down for awhile and blog, but it sure does feel amazing to do that now. I thought that I might just update you since it’s been a minute! 🙂

Last week, I had the opportunity to be a guest speaker for the fashion design class/fashion club at my school! It was seriously awesome; I got to talk about myself and Emily’s Edge, as well as answer questions that they had for me. I could tell some of the girls really enjoyed it and were interested. It reminded me of why I started this blog and how much it means to me. I felt super honored to talk to all of them!

I’ve also been meeting and connecting with even more people that I’m going to college with next year, which is super great! Everyone is so nice, and I’ve already found three roommates who are already such awesome friends. It makes me even more comfortable with moving across the country in a few months.

Speaking of which, I’m heading back to New York next month for a few days where I’ll be going to an accepted student’s day for my college. I’m meeting some of my roomies and friends in person for the first time, and it’s going to be so fun! And of course, I’m more than ecstatic to be back in New York. I miss it.

As for the time being, I’ve been sick for a bit and have been spending a lot of time at home and in bed resting. I was supposed to see a concert tonight, but I’m unfortunately having to skip it because of this cold. You win some, you lose some.

I hope all of you are having a happy year so far! I’m going to be back super soon with more posts again, but I’m glad I could share this little update!

My Top 10 Beauty and Skincare Favorites

Hey guys!

I recently listened to a podcast episode from one of my favorite podcasts, What We Said by Jaci Smith and Chelsey Curtis, where they talked about their favorite beauty products. As you all know from reading this blog, I love a good makeup or skincare product. Hearing about what Jaci and Chelsey love inspired me to do the same and share with you what I’m loving at the moment!

Glossier Bomb Dotcom in Rose: I’m going to keep this short because I’ve talked about this way too many times, but this is definitely one of my favorite lip balms. I’m actually close to finishing the whole tube which is super impressive considering it’s filled with a good amount of product.

Garnier Micellar Water: This stuff has made removing my makeup ten times easier. I always use this to take off the base of my makeup before using cleanser to really make sure my skin is completely makeup-free. If you haven’t used this stuff yet, you’re missing out! I’ve gone through so many big and travel sized bottles of this.

Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Polish Gloss in Sophia: I love Buxom lip glosses. I have so many mini ones from sets, as well as a few full sized ones that I equally adore. They leave such a minty and fresh scent that lasts for an extended period of time. This one in Sophia is the perfect everyday color; it’s light pink with a beautiful, sparkly sheen.

Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer: I have dry skin that needs to be moisturized whenever I wash my face. I picked this up about a month ago, and let me tell you, I have already made a fair dent in the moisturizer. After I use this, I never feel the need to use primer under my makeup because it still applies great. This is definitely a product that I will be repurchasing!

Glossier Lash Slick: This is another product that I’ve talked about many, many times, but I’m still not over it. I know most people say this is a good product if you want natural looking lashes, but use a few coats of this and you achieve voluminous and long ones. As a mascara lover, I’ve always been on the hunt to find one that’s the best; I come back to lash slick each time.

Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal: God bless Rihanna for killing the beauty game. This highlighter is the best one I’ve ever tried. I love that it comes with the two colors; I find that Lightning Dust is less sparkly and glittery than Fire Crystal. I personally reach for Fire Crystal more, but both are extremely pretty and worth the hype!

Mer-Sea & Co. Body Cream in Coconut Sugar: If any of you also have a FabFitFun subscription, you might have gotten this in your last winter box. I love this stuff. I hate lotions that feel super slimy and sticky, but this one soaks into your skin and leaves it so silky smooth. It smells just like a warm, beach vacation, too!

Roses De Chloé Rollerball: This is my favorite perfume. My favorite flowers are roses, and it’s also my favorite scent. This fragrance isn’t too strong and overpowering; it’s floral-y and soft. I love the smell of this and how it reminds me of fresh cut roses.

Glossier Invisible Shield: I can’t emphasize how important it is to protect your skin daily from the sun. With a lemon scent, great sun protection, and a clear application, Invisible Shield is your new favorite sunscreen.

Lavanila Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Lavender: I’ve been using this stuff for years now, and I love it because it doesn’t have aluminum in it. If you’re going to be using a product everyday, make sure to check out how clean and healthy it is!

As always, the links to everything I’ve mentioned are up above! Also, make sure you tune in to What We Said every Tuesday for new podcast episodes and follow them below!

2019, I’m Ready!

This year has been one on my mind for awhile now since I knew it would be a year of new experiences, changes, endings, and beginnings. Now that it’s here, I can’t quite wrap my head around it but it gets a little more real each day.

I’m excited for 2019. Some resolutions for the year are…

-Wear more color! Try to step out of your habit of buying white shirts, Emily. You’re more interesting than that! (13 days into this new year, and let me tell you, I have been so much better already.)

-Actually eat breakfast. I’m the kind of person who runs out the door in the morning and doesn’t grab something to eat because I’m “too busy,” which is a lame excuse that will end this year.

-Read more books. I love reading, and I forget about how therapeutic it is for me. This year, I’m going to make sure I have a book that I’m reading at all times and that I give myself time to read it.

-Less Starbucks, more coffee at home. I have become way too reliant on Starbucks for my daily cup of iced coffee, but I have a Nespresso machine at home and am 100% capable of being my own barista. Catch me perfecting my iced coffee recipe this year.

Those are some changes I’m going to make this year; what are your plans and resolutions?

In terms of exciting and new changes, I will be graduating high school this spring and then starting college in the fall. However, I’ll be leaving my home for the past 18 years, Southern California, for a new adventure in New York where I’ll be a Fashion Studies major!!! I’m not too pumped about packing everything, but I’m ecstatic to be studying what I love in my favorite city! I also really love the school that I committed to, which makes everything ten times more wonderful (go Johnnies)!

Anyways, many amazing things are on the horizon, and I’m ready to make the very most of this year and all of the things that are coming my way. 2019 is going to be a year to remember!

Nailed It

Hey everyone,

I’m definitely getting some flashbacks to my old blog posts where I used to talk about my nails and polishes quite a bit. I’m bringing those vibes back today to talk about my experience with acrylics.

If you’ve been here awhile, you know that I naturally have pretty long nails. However, in June, my nails were going through a new nail cycle where they were really short before they grew out again. My friend had gone and gotten acrylics, and I wanted to get my nails done since I hadn’t in awhile. I was planning on getting extensions and putting dip powder nail polish on top of it. Long story short, the place I went to was a disaster and ended up giving me really wide acrylics with gel on top. Thankfully, I was able to get them fixed, and months later, I love my acrylics and how they look!

However, before I had gotten acrylics, it would have been nice to read about the pros and cons of having them. Here’s a list of both pros and cons that I wish I would have known earlier:

Saves Time: I’m able to spend a lot less time fussing over my nails when I have acrylics. I used to spend a good amount of time painting and repainting my nails. It’s nice to have them done and not worry about it anymore.

More Options: Having them done means that they’re always long and always the perfect shape. I have a variety of colors and polishes to choose from each appointment.

Longevity: I’m able to go two weeks with my nails looking super great which is nice since I’m usually busy with school or work. I feel a lot more put together when my nails are done and I’m using my hands during work (i.e. when showing jewelry pieces to customers or handling their purchases).

An Investment: Getting your nails done every two weeks is definitely an investment in many aspects. If I didn’t have a job, I don’t think I’d be able to financially justify getting them done. They are also an investment of time – not everyone can make time to do them with everything else going on in life.

Upkeep: Acrylics require a lot of upkeep. You have to make sure you’re taking care of them and getting them done so you’re not at risk for infections.

Finding A Salon: I’m going to put this in the cons section because, let’s face it, finding a good nail salon and technician is hard. As I mentioned above, the first salon I went to was a nightmare, and until recently, I haven’t found one with really great people. However, once you find a good one, you’re set!

I hope this helps some of you who are planning on getting acrylics or are just curious about what they entail! Overall, it’s a personal decision and depends on your lifestyle, but I find them 100% worth it!

FYI: The shape I get is narrow and square. The gel color in the first photo is by DND and called Sunset Fog. The second gel color is also by DND and called Amethyst Sparkles.

Moon Walker

If there’s one thing that I know for sure, it’s that I love a good pair of boots. Ever since I started this blog, I’ve had an eye for all pairs: velvet, faux snakeskin, patent, pointed… you name it. And today, I carry on the tradition of sharing my new favorites.

I got these as a Christmas present after wanting them for awhile, and since I tore open the wrapping paper, they haven’t left my feet. They’re unlike any other pair I have because 1. they are white and 2. they have a chunky, thick heel. One thing that I can say is that these boots are so comfortable. I’ve been wearing them for long periods of time, whether that’s shopping for four hours or working and assisting customers for five. No problems yet!

These shoes add a nice pop of color too (ironic, I know. The white is just so bright that it gives an outfit a little extra something). They go with everything and look interesting when paired with darker accessories.

Additionally, I’ve seen so many people wearing white boots lately, so these fit right in with the trend. A lot of the ones I’ve seen have been very big and bulky; these are not like that, thank goodness.

They seem like they will be relatively easy to clean, too. I know they are bound to get dirty, but if I keep cleaning them up as I wear them, they should be pretty solid.

You can get these Maci Chelsea Boots at Urban Outfitters here!

What’s one pair of shoes that you have been reaching for lately?

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’s,
