Dream Shoes

IMG_2415

Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to share my favorite pair of shoes with you, and that’s saying a lot considering I probably own too many. I got these as a birthday gift a couple of months ago, and I’ve been wearing them nonstop ever since.

These are the Commes Des Garçon X Converse hightops. You all know how much I love my plain back Converse, and you also know my love for designer accessories… yeah, so basically these shoes are a dream come true.

There are so many small details that make these shoes different from regular Converse. To start off with, they have the famous red heart on the sides and also a white stripe on the heel. The rubber part of the shoe is more of an off-white color, and the rubber is extremely shiny, giving it a patent leather kind of look. Also, they’re not as flat as other Converse and kind of have a little platform. This makes them so much more comfortable too. It feels like there’s foam in the soles, making them a perfect pair for day to day wear, whether that’s going to work, school, or having a day/night out.

These shoes are unlike any other pair that I own, and I get so many compliments when I wear them. They’re a great accessory to any outfit and match with basically everything.

Besides black, you can also get them in an off-white color. You can get them as lowtops, so you have options when it comes to the style and color. Also, I feel like it’s helpful to mention that these come in men’s sizes. Make sure you know what size you are in Converse because women sizes are generally smaller than your normal size.

These are definitely going to get a lot more wear during fall and winter. I can’t wait to show you how I style them!

Here’s what I’m wearing:

My Favorite Looks From NYFW So Far

Hello everyone!

For the past few hours I’ve been hopping around the internet looking at a lot of fashion week pictures. I thought it would be fun to put together some of my favorites to share with all of you. Keep in mind that since fashion week isn’t over yet, there are still so many collections that I haven’t seen!

Christian Siriano (pictures one and two): Christian Siriano never disappoints me when it comes to runway shows. His pieces are always so beautiful. I love the dress in the first picture. I think it’s stunning with the big skirt and simple black bodice. I also love the second look because of how chic it is. The pants and blazer fit so well, and I like that you can see the laser cut fabric.

Kate Spade (pictures three and four): I think Kate Spade had a really nice collection this year, and I can definitely tell that it’s meant for spring. I love the strapless dress with the flowers. I think it’s perfect for early next year, and I can totally see a lot of different people wearing it. I also really love the bag and shoes. So many people are wearing fanny packs lately, and her take on one is perfect for those who want to be trendy but look classic. I also really like the next outfit. I find it very different and interesting, which is why I enjoy it so much. The dangling earrings look great paired with the basic suit. Underneath the blazer you have a zip up sweatshirt that kind of gives off an athleisure vibe. I also love the bedazzled slides. Spade took such basic pieces and made them so cool and trendy.

Derek Lam (picture five): I know this might not be to everyone’s taste, but I personally love this jumpsuit by Derek Lam. I think it looks so sophisticated. I’ve seen quite a few pieces with tie fronts lately, so it’s definitely a trend to keep an eye on. I really like the cut of the top with the flow-y legs. It’s such an eye-catching piece!

Zimmermann (picture six): I think that this white dress from Zimmermann is cute and great for spring. I saw a lot of light pieces from their show, and this one stood out to me.  I like the crochet details and the softer version of a bell sleeve. They also have a similar dress with a longer skirt.

Have you been keeping up with NYFW? If so, what are your favorite collections so far?

Talk to you soon!

Trust Your Process

Hello everyone!

Long time, no blog post. I wrote about this outfit last week, but my post unfortunately deleted itself. Fingers crossed that this one goes up successfully! I hope you enjoy it, and I’m sorry for the delay.

I’m going to start off with this super cool tee. I’m loving this shirt right now. I’ve had my eye on it for awhile, and my sister bought it for me as a gift for my birthday. I think the artwork is very cool, and I also love the message. I feel like trusting your process is so important, and that what’s going on is happening for a reason. This is just my interpretation on what the shirt stands for, but I love that it has original artwork and a meaning behind it.

I obviously paired the shirt with my shorts, but I also added on a belt. Silver belts have been pretty in lately, along with the gold Gucci belts. This one is meant to look a little bit western-ish. I got it from Shein, so it was very inexpensive. If you’re looking for a belt that doesn’t cost a fortune, I recommend looking on their website because they have a good selection. My only complaint would be that they’re not the best quality, but it’s all good if you just want an accessory for the time being.

As you can see, I am also still loving my gold necklaces. The golden star choker and the E bar necklace were both gifts, and I love wearing those together with other ones I have (more on that here).

Sorry that this post is kind of short, but I have many more ideas and plans for the upcoming posts. Keep an eye on here!

Thanks for always visiting even when I’m absent 🙂

Here’s what I’m wearing:

Trust Your Process Tee from UO

Joni Shorts in Black from Topshop (now on sale!)

Black Hightop Converse

Black Belt from Shein

Promise to talk to you soon!

Dear Bloggers,

IMG_1790

Hi everyone!

Today I’m going to be writing a blog post with all of my tips for being a blogger. Hopefully this will help some of you, and if you aren’t a blogger, maybe this will give you some words of wisdom for your everyday life.

Stay true to yourself. This is my biggest tip to anyone who’s starting/running a blog. Many people feel the need to do what everyone else is doing in order to be what society deems as successful. If you’re doing this on a blog, many people will see that you’re not acting genuine. It’s so important to embrace who you are as a person. Let this show on your blog, too!

Don’t force anything. If you’re having a hard time brainstorming ideas, let yourself have a break. The worst thing to do is to force a blog post when you’re uninspired. Allow yourself to relax and recharge. Try not to put pressure on yourself to blog everyday, every week, or every month, depending on what your usual goal is. If you’re needing a break, take one.

Find things that make you unique as a blogger. It will help you feel more confident and attract a bigger audience!

Do it because of your passion. Some bloggers get paid or are offered opportunities because of what they do. If you have a blog, make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons. Don’t start one just to make money. If that’s your purpose, your readers and opportunities will be limited. Start/run a blog not for the money, but for how much you enjoy whatever you may be talking about.

Know that things take time. I feel like many people expect things to take off right after they start blogging. The truth is, things take time. Not everything is going to progress overnight, so enjoy the experience. Take each opportunity with a grateful heart, and know that just because you’re not as far ahead as you’d like to be, you can still get there.

Have fun. Simple enough.

I hope these were helpful for you, whether you’re running a blog or not.

Have a great rest of your weekend, and feel free to leave any blog ideas in the comments!

Talk to you soon!

My Sister and Friend Pick Out My Outfit!

If you’ve been scrolling through YouTube lately, you’ve probably seen this kind of challenge before. Many people are challenging their friends and family members to pick out outfits for them without their help. I decided to challenge both my sister and friend to try and pick out an outfit for me. Did they succeed? Let’s find out!

To start off with, I want to say that this whole outfit was picked out in Forever 21. This also explains why I’m in a dressing room and why these photos aren’t the best quality. Sorry for all this, but it adds to the mystery of whether or not I bought the outfit!

My sister originally picked out the overall dress, and then both of them decided that they would base the rest of the outfit around this piece. The dress is made from a black corduroy material and has two little pockets at the front. The dress zips up and has a little snap closure at the top to cover the zipper. As you can see in the first photo, it is a little bit roomy but it’s because it’s meant to have an oversized fit.

I’m not going to lie, I actually picked out the shoes next while they were trying to find a shirt to go under the outfit. This was the only pair of shoes that I could find where I thought that they might be okay with this look. The rest of the shoes in the store were too busy looking or just didn’t make sense for the outfit. I’m going to say how I liked the shoes now since I picked them out. They definitely weren’t the most comfortable. They weren’t terrible, but I could tell that the quality of them wasn’t great. Looking back at them, I like the shoes even less than I did when I originally tried them on. I ended up not buying the pair for these reasons.

Lastly, they picked out this red shirt to go under the overalls. Online, this top is described as a plum color, but it really is a burgundy shade and doesn’t have purple undertones. It has this mock neck top to it and lace up details in the back. It’s also ribbed.

Now, how did I think they did? I honestly thought they did very well! As mentioned above, the shoes weren’t great but they still looked alright with the outfit. As for the dress and top together, I think it would be a really cute fall outfit. The top looked alright under the overalls, but I couldn’t see myself getting that much use out of it in the future. Personally, I think the crossed detail at the back is too much since it’s already a mock neck top. Besides that though, the shirt still did look nice with the overalls. The overall dress was my favorite part! I think they did really well picking these out. I loved how casual it was while still looking very put together. I was able to clearly picture myself putting several of my tees under it during both warmer and colder days. My sister actually ended up buying me it as a birthday gift for next month because I loved it so much!

In general, I did not expect them to do this well! I’ll link every single item down below in case you’d like to pick up any items mentioned.

P.S. This whole outfit was under $65!

Here’s what I’m wearing:

Corduroy Overall Dress in Black

Faux Suede Pointed Flats

Contemporary Ribbed Lace-Up Top

2 Years

IMG_1794

Today marks two years since creating Emily’s Edge! It’s crazy to think that I’ve been blogging for this long; it feels like something that I only started recently.

After looking back at the post I wrote exactly one year ago, I realize how much I’ve changed since starting this blog. For starters, I’ve grown older, improved the quality of my photos, and have evolved my writing style. I’ve taken breaks from blogging; some weeks I’ve been too busy with schoolwork and other times I’ve been traveling. It’s not always easy to balance everything, and it’s hard to take a break sometimes.

I really never knew if I’d ever start this blog. It was an idea in my head for such a long time. I’m lucky that I did, because it has brought me so many wonderful gifts and realizations. Doing this has allowed me to express my thoughts on fashion through writing. Writing has always been a very important part of self-expression. The fact that I’ve been able to incorporate these two passions is amazing.

Over the past couple of years I’ve realized how much I love fashion, and how much I want to keep contributing to it. Blogging is such a unique thing for me. Although it seems like just about everyone has a blog now, I’m the only person I know who started one at such a young age. I love that I have this advantage because I know it can only go up from here.

Thank you so much if you view, read, comment, etc. It’s so great to have my own platform, and it still shocks me to see how many people from different places view my blog!

I’m excited to see what the future holds. Lots of love.

To many more years of Emily’s Edge,

-Emily Berrol

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” -Leonardo Da Vinci

I’m so happy to finally share this post with you. I’ve been sitting with these images for a week now, and revisiting them makes me even more excited. Before I begin, I want to thank my amazing friend and photographer, Alanna. After the images from this other post, I knew I had to shoot with her again. Not only is she naturally talented, but she’s also incredibly humble and kind. Go check out and follow her Instagram here.

I really love this outfit and its simplicity. When styling this, I think my neck tie really made all the difference. It’s kind of the first thing you notice, and it’s perfect for one trend that’s really in right now: gingham. I love the blue and white gingham pattern and frilly edges of it. Besides being adorable, it’s super cool because it was my mom’s from when she was younger. That makes it even more special to me!

When it comes to the shirt I’m wearing, I had to make it look quite a bit shorter than it actually is. I cinched it in the back until it was as tight and short as I wanted it to be, and then tucked that into the back of my shorts. After, I pulled it out a little bit to make it look like a natural length. This worked perfectly because I was wearing my high waisted shorts. Now, everyone knows about my love for the Topshop Joni jeans. When I found out that they started making Joni shorts, I immediately bought two pairs. I’ve been wearing them for a couple of weeks now, and I’m obsessed with them. The day that Topshop stops making this style of denim will be a sad one for my wardrobe.

I topped it off with my flat, quilted sneakers from Steve Madden and my glittery cat-eye sunglasses. I kept the shoes simple, but I wanted to wear some sunglasses that were more out there. These ones worked perfectly with the vibe I was trying to achieve with this fit.

I also had my gold charm necklace on and a pair of delicate crystal hoops (and my cartilage piercing, if you even count that).

I really love these photos and this look. Thank you again to Alanna for her amazing work! She makes all my photo dreams come true!

Also, I’ll see you Tuesday to celebrate two years of Emily’s Edge! Can you believe it?!
